lithuanian producer paulius lincius (aka moon disco) presents his first vinyl release on the respected control tower label, run by the dexorcist & radioactive man, and shows a subtlety and deftness of touch that many more experienced producers would envy. treading the path of classic electro can be a dangerous game if the sounds arent just so, but fortunately paulius has been doing his homework and keeps it simple and clean. radioactive man offers up a remix that roughens things up a little bit and throws some datasette-esque sounds into the equation, but still keeps pretty close to the traditional electro blueprint. overall a strong release for those that prefer their beats and bass with a slightly nostalgic edge...

first release for this new italian label, who claim to bring techno back to its top level. we re inclined to agree with those sentiments, as are the others who have received promos of the release. the a side consists of two deep and dark techno tracks, that should also find favour with more minimal djs. they are apparently by a popular northern european artist, going under the guise of ????. the label has kept such a secret that we dont even know who it is. on the b side, we have a soz adams (esperanza, archipel, gumption) remix of label head obtane and fris, which is a retro chicago style excursion, and german duo sebastian herre and obscure close the ep with a more detroit techno inspired track.

munich man dario zenker is back again for his second vakant ep following 2008s >sam und er/womde!< (va019). still fresh faced and just as hungry, dario continues to bring the bavarian goods to our freaky masses. a side -would be nice- makes more twists and turns than a sausage factory while consistently pumping out the mystery meat thick and juicy. if you want freak, thump, space, expanse, its all here. b1 -blue champa- is perhaps more on the vegetarian tip: light, nutritious, guilt free and always leaving you a little hungry. fun and bouncy, -blue champa- easily proves that you dont need to eat meat to get phat. at b2 position you will find -while rain gets air-. we have no idea what dario means here but if you were asking yourself >wheres that track on this vakant record that wont let close my eyes at night cause i heard this track at 7am and im still a little freaked out,< this is it. listeners beware

asd008 sees the return of alex krueger and a welcome one at that! this oneÆs 5 tracks deep (including a digital exclusive) and includes a pair of fine remixes from londoner-in-berlin, mark henning, ôblasted bitchö is tigerskin at his best. the title cut is a feast of sonic trickery, with sounds playing off each other beautifully to create a wide, dense soundscape which, paired with clipped percussion, clever dancefloor arrangement, evil laugh & crude vocal sample this one delivers tough. henning, a man known for his abilities with sound design himself, takes a darker route with his interpretation which, while still driving, is more of a heads down late night affair û riddled with oddball delays and some unnerving vox efx. ôwhat theö takes a turn to the darkside, moody, sharp, reveb laden and pulsing, the track is real heavy business watch out for that unholy belgian hardcore synth riff a la ômentasmö, thereÆs a real æmomentÆ in there. to round off the original cuts. responseö continues seeing tigerskin provide a straighter groove but one which displays some sterling keyboard work and strong break. finally, henning provides another remix of the title track as the digital only addition all too important these days. futuristic deep, tech-house is about as close as a description anyone needs for this superb final piece of an equally superb package.

moeller s third, already highly anticipated ep for third ear, following the jazz space ep (3eep-068) and the one man s junk ep (3eep-088).once again we have selected 4 cuts of varying mood and intensity to create an ep offering many possibilities for the dj and a rewarding home listening experience. a1 - traffic (new wipers mix) is a driving wide-screen track which will turn the dancefloor into a heaving mass of frequencies and beats. this is close to a peak-time track. this is a high intensity track that holds the vibe in a state of impending release underpinned with a deep, open groove. 126bpm. a2 - slight transition takes the vibe very deep and keeps it there. a simple (genuinely less is more) drum pattern of a lightly hit snare drum, hi-hat and occasionally shaken guiro over a hypnotic bass pattern, hold the track in place for nearly seven minutes. a masterful control of tension offering the dj a number of options for where to take the dancefloor from this moment s respite. 119bpm.

lets remixer speak! >it was great to be asked to do this. originally, i wanted to do something really quirky and funky with the strange vocal in human bond, one of my favorite old tracks. i tried a few times but i couldnt really get a vibe going in the funk realm. so i listened to the original over and over again and then the lightbulb turned on. i realized that the original was a monster rave track, like what you would hear in a warehouse in detroit in the 90s. so i threw out my original idea and went crazy with a huge techno builder, something to hype a big rave just like the original. maybe this doesnt sound exactly like what i usually do but that was the fun of making it< claude vonstroke. aa: >bounce your body to the box was one of the first kms records that i owned and it was all about the mike >hitman< wilson mix and force field on the b side. the production on the original was huge. the 909 groove just pounded everything... when that came out there was nothing that came close to it. so it was an honor and a challenge to mix it myself. first came the futurist bounce mix... not released on vinyl, anmerkung, ... which is more of a cover version than a remix. i had a lot of fun with this one but it definitely has a signature that steps away from the original. so i had to take a run at it one more time to pay a proper homage to the original with the flashback mix< mike shannon...

in the huge world of >various artists< this is the one you will absolutely remember ! on the side a pizeta is the track of this ep. a melody you cant surely forget and will make you dance. in the jungle of ethno-folk, it s the massive one! a great clarinet theme is followed by tech house minimal rhythm and a nice bassline. on the side b1 we have the promising producer federico grazzini who is known for his last ep on >aloe< played by all the big names of the moment. for this ep he delivers another dancefloor bomb. already played by marco carola at dc10 this summer. the b2 is a real b2, more deep and good for the warm up. arnaud le texier (safari electronique) & emmanuel ternois (children of tomorrow) close this ep with a sensual deep house modern.
